It is simply secured by gravity .

No compression siding to keep from moving form side-to-side. It has a anti-slip surface that keeps it in place, but if you dont have a stylus and rely on your fingers, it can easily fall out either side. But once you find a sweet spot angle, it does it's job. Just takes some getting used to.

Love it

I wanted one because I often play YouTube or Netflix for background noise and I would prop my iPhone XR up against my monitor stand. I originally thought the base was going to be too long and in the way, but I have the stand in between my two monitors and the base tucked under my keyboard. I love the grip on the back and I love that the height is adjustable.

Perfect. Just buy it.

This is a great product. Very well-made, sturdy, and practical. I’ve ended up purchasing one for every member of my family so we each have one for our phones while sitting at the table (at separate times, not during the normal family meal!). Besides being great for reading news, email etc. on your phone while seated, it’s great for holding your phone when following recipes in the kitchen — avoids getting your phone wet or sticky. And the price is great — if you’re thinking of buying it, just buy it. You’ll be happy you did.

Great phone stand

The fact that this little thing folds up flat and is adjustable is great. I’ve had 3 phone stands, returned one, kept one and shouldn’t have because you couldn't set the phone in the stand when it’s plugged in. You had to route the charge cord through the back, etc. just a hassle. This thing however is perfect. I think this will be on my Xmas list for family and friends.

Holds a naked phone perfectly. My OtterBox cased phone is too wide for the "claws" to grab the bottom. So what I do is tip the stand back further such that my phone doesn't slip out. Other than this issue the stand is fine.
